Tomorrow is 4th of July, the celebration of America’s independence from England. To those of us in the United States, this holiday means more than freedom; it means a day off work, barbequing hamburgers and hot dogs, eating watermelon, and watching fireworks.
This table runner — made by Kathy E. of Long Island and quilted by me — is absolutely perfect for tomorrow’s celebrations. I love the vibrant colors and the use of watermelon fabric for backing.
For some reason, I find table runners very difficult to quilt. I like to do something original, yet there’s very little space on a table runner, so mostly I try to highlight the fabric. I quilted this using a lime green thread and left the pink part of the watermelon unquilted.
Happy 4th of July to all my American readers!
